The Holy Quran is the greatest miracle of the Muslims. It has in it all the rules and regulations man should follow if he hopes to be successful both in this world, and in the next. Allah says: “We have not neglected anything from this Book”. [Surah Al Anam verse 38
And indeed nothing has been left behind in this holy text, from inheritance to rights of the orphan, to rights of the neighbor and kin, to governance and leadership, to science and education, marriage and divorce, to mention a few. It also contains information about events of the past and the future. Here are a couple of prophecies that were mentioned in the holy Quran, and have been fulfilled by the Power of Allah.
#1. Protection of the Holy Quran
In spite of being revealed over 1400 years ago, the holy Quran is still intact. That is due to the promise of Allah to protect the Quran from any form of corruption. Allah says in surah 15:9: “Behold, We have revealed the reminder, and behold we will guard it”
#2. Ease in memorization of the Quran
The holy Quran is the singular most memorized text in the world. Almost every Islamic scholar has committed it into memory, and so have millions of other ordinary Muslims. Allah promised to make it easy to memorize, in Surah 54:17-
“And in truth have We made the Quran easy to remember, who then is willing to take it to heart?”
#3. Defeat of the Persians by the Romans
Before the rise of Islam, the Romans (who were Christians) and Persians (who were Zoroastrians) were two contesting powers. In about 613-614AD, the Persians, led by defeated the Romans, taking over Syria, Egypt, Jerusalem and Armenia. The Muslims at that time were saddened by this because they felt spiritually closer to the Christians, while the pagan Arabs felt happy about this. They saw it as a sign that the Muslims would also be defeated by pagans. So Allah revealed to the Muslims that the Romans will defeat the Persians in the near future. Allah says in chapter 30 Surah Ar- Rum verses 2-4:
“The Romans have been defeated.
In a nearer lan (Syria,Iraq,Jordan and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious.
Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah. And on that Day, the believers (Muslims) will rejoice.”
This prophecy came to pass when in 622 , Heraclius conquered and defeated the Persians in the battle of Nineveh. Thus the Romans became victorious.
#4. Defeat of the Meccan Pagans by the Muslims
The holy Quran also prophesized the defeat of the meccan pagans at the hands of the Muslims. Surah Al Fath 48:27- “Indeed Allah shall fulfill the true vision which he showed to His Messenger [i.e the Prophet (saw) saw a dream that he has entered Makkah along with his Companions, having their (head) hair clean shaved and cut short] in very truth. Certainly, you shall enter Al-Masjid Al-Haraam, if Allah wills, secure, Some having your heads shaved, and some having your head hair cut short, having no fear. He knew what you knew not, and He granted besides that a near victory.”
#5. Preservation of the body of Pharaoh
Allah says in Surah 10:92- “……….Today, we will preserve your body, to set you up as a lesson to future generations. Verily, many among mankind are totally oblivious of our signs.”
This Prophecy was fulfilled when the mummy of Memptah (the Pharaoh of Exodus) was discovered in 1898, and it is now on display in the Royal Mummies Room of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
#6. Environmental Pollution
Today, pollution is one is man’s greatest threats, and undoubtedly a product of man’s activities on the earth. This does not surprise Muslims, because Allah has already warned us about it. Surah 30:41 says: “Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of the people have earned, He thus lets them taste the consequences of their works that they may return.”
#7. The Spread of Islam
Allah promised the Prophet (SAW) victory, and promised to make Islam prevail over all other religions. Allah said:
‘It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions” (Quran 9:33)
Islam is the fastest growing religion today, and it will continue to grow in sha Allah.
